Executive Functioning and Adolescents with FASDs

Adolescents affected by prenatal exposure to alcohol, including those with a diagnosis within Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs), may have intact cognitive functioning. But, they may also have Executive Functioning difficulties, which means they have a difficult time planning their behaviors and carrying out tasks and decisions to complete goals.

Christine Schmidt, PsyD and adoptive mother Carole Hurley, speak about Executive Functioning and how this influences the behavior of teens. This video includes footage from the documentary ‘Moment to Moment: Teens Growing Up with FASDs’ and additional clips not used in the film.
