This summary report, published by the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in June 2025, presents the findings of a national assessment commissioned by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The purpose of the assessment was to identify strategies to strengthen Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) prevention, diagnosis, and support across the country. Drawing on literature reviews, policy analysis, and extensive engagement with stakeholders—including individuals with FASD and their families—the report responds to four key questions concerning diagnostic uptake, data challenges, prevention efforts, and support needs across the lifespan. The findings aim to inform coordinated, evidence-based actions that reduce stigma, improve access to services, and promote the well-being of people with FASD in Canada.
