Researchers found that children with prenatal alcohol exposure demonstrated lower academic performance in primary school and were more likely to pursue less academically demanding educational pathways during adolescence. Students affected by prenatal alcohol exposure may demonstrate strengths in many areas while simultaneously experiencing difficulties with organization, processing speed, emotional regulation, memory, transitions, and adaptive functioning.
